Spain Championship Super X - Sant Pere Pescador

The "Wind" Aquarius Campsite Sant Pere Pescador was the venue for the championship of Spain Super X. The large enrollment (more than 60 registered) and the number of juniors made it a success. A shame about the low participation of runners from outside Catalonia. Ania only attended the meeting. The endless willpower Xavi Torres (National Secretary of the Funboard class) and the help of some runners and volunteers were the key to a good organization with more enthusiasm and know-how than economic resources. On the beach there was nothing missing, tents, music, flags, stage for judges, areas to store and clean the material ... and wind.

Riding the churros

First day, Thursday 13, the wind blew justito and could do the first jumps of churros, but not enough to give the output. The juniors played a bunch of training.

Second day, Friday 14, entered a Garbí F-4, which is not typical wind entering some land. In a few meters in blowing a good F-5. Because it remains for hours, you can play 14 sleeves, to reach the semifinals. They go out and spend four eight riders to the next round. Step Two repeat the first round and quarter-final position. By now passing or not passing means being in the finals or not. At night, dinner and party at the restaurant "La Lluna" L'Escala. The most enduring late revelers.

Third day, Saturday 15, at last the typical "Marinade" of Sant Pere, very consistent, appears. Departure from the beach in my semifinal. Only the first four will be in the final. There is tension seconds before departure. Horn, eight candles shoot out to the first travel churro. My start was a bit slow and choppy I'm eating the front, Masdevall, Pastor, Oliveras, Recasens and Lopez. Before jumping the step churro Lopez. The output of the second semifinal is about to. Hence the four runners will complete the final eight. But the output is delayed, the wind has flagged a lot. In the end it suspends output. There are still two days of racing.

Fourth day, Sunday 16, Calma. In the afternoon a barbecue in "The Wind" for riders and passengers, over 100 people. Tomorrow afternoon is forecast ... With 30 minutes Tramontana wind have enough for a semifinal and final.

Fifth day, Monday, 17, hopes and despair. The hours pass with no sign of Tramontana. Finally it was decided to terminate the test. All semifinalists with the same score. So are the races. All collected but some stayed to drink in the bar of the campsite. At 6:30 comes the strong Tramontana. We get to 5.5my freestyle board ... until 9 pm.

If all goes well and thanks to the success of organization and participation, the next year resources will be available on loan from the federation. This will enable to improve many things, including sleeves that are played more with less hours of wind and thus ensure the test.

In this tournament I take very good memories, the good feeling between riders and how well we have served at dinner parties, barbecues, etc ... have been a fantastic holiday. Next year will fail also.
