Defi Wind 2007
From 17 to May 20 was held in Carcassonne, southern France in the highest concentration of windsurfing in the world. The Defi Wind has been achieved in this 7 th edition an absolute record of participation with 700 registered!
The first day the north wind blew with a force intractable, with gusts of 50 to 62 knots. Under these conditions only the professional riders were authorized by the organization to do a slalom. Big names set up their smaller sails, Antoine Albeau eg 5.0 m2 rig while Jason Polakow who was there to promote "The windsurfing movie" mounted a 3.5 m2 Zone!
After the storm the first day, everyone was crossing their fingers that were met on Friday Meteo France forecasts ... and fulfilled! Blowing 25-30 knots regularly on the tour. Philippe Bru, event director, finally had a free hand to launch the race and back Gruissan Port-la-Nouvelle 2 times in total 40km.
At 10h30 the output is given where Antoine Albeau, the favorite suffers a catapult and lost 15 seats while in head race are Anders and Phil McGain Bringdal. Anders and Phil McGain Bringdal have shown that they are in shape but lose their options to jibe buoy wrong in the second round. Despite the initial setback, Albeau is out with 7.8 m2 while the bulk of the fleet sails with 7.0 m2 and positions that allows you to recover and win the first race followed by Cyril Moussilmani and Pieter Bijl
Around noon the second round is launched. Lead Albeau this time made no mistakes at the start but Anders Bringdal follows closely and mourning is spectacular. The 40-year Swedish fleet impresses with its supersonic speed. Bringdal ends the first round ahead of Albeau and Moussilmani but these are being passed at the last board.
In total there were more than 80km in one day of competition! Muscles and more but can not we then launches a third set that regains Pieter Bijl followed Albeau and Arnon Dagan.
