Interview with Victor Fernandez E42
Victor Fernandez (E-42 Fanatic / Simmer) is one of the young prospects with the greatest potential in the circuit of the PWA. The Spanish rider won the test waves in Pozo Izquierdo meeting the expectations of those who had trusted him. After the test of Sylt and missing the Hawaii Aloha Victor remains in the struggle for world championship wave 2006.
"My strategy for the 2006 season was similar to previous years. I have traveled to train in a variety of conditions to improve my all-round. This has been of vital importance to tackle the world circuit this year takes place in spots as diverse as Hookipa, Guincho, Pozo and Sylt. And as the level on the tour is so high, my goal this year was the podium at least one event.
I am currently ranked 5th in the waves, and despite the disappointment of not competing at Sylt, I keep my hopes to improve my ranking in the final event. This of course I would love to win the title of waves, but as I said there is much competition in the circuit and few opportunities to demonstrate your level. For example, I expected a better result in Guincho, where there was a single qualifying score. There was the ninth which is not bad, but if you expect to do better always competitive and have more opportunities playoffs and prove your level.
Since the last competition in Fuerteventura have been at home in Almeria, and working with Sebastian Wenzel, the Fanatic shaper in Guincho. These two locations allow me to practice my right navigation wind. So I went to where I could browse Klittmoller left, so I had the good fortune to make a good workout ahead of the competition of Sylt, where you have to be prepared for any type of condition.
Having the chance to win the world title is a great opportunity for me, but now also depend on the results of the other competitors and not just my results. I think Kevin Angulo Kauli are the toughest opponents right now.
This year I have not participated in the events of Super-X, to concentrate on the waves and freestyle disciplines that are my favorites. I have no obligation to my sponsors about the Super-X because they are more interested in my results in waves and I enjoy concentrating on what I like. Only participate in the Super-X in case this was scoring for the overall title.
Some people have asked me if concentrating on my fight for the title of waves freestyle've lost benefits. Indeed I have been concentrating on the competition of waves, especially after Pozo. Furthermore, the freestyle is much more complicated, especially if you travel to the best spots with the best specialists in freestyle. Anyway freestyle helps me a lot because I get to take advantage of more days in the water and it's really important to create new wave maneuvers.
Incidentally, this practice a new move! I only tried a few times but hopefully it out soon ... I will give to know soon when I have it on hand!
Victor Thanks and good luck.
