PWA Estoril Guincho World Cup - Day 4: Matt Pritchard wins the single elimination
Matt Pritchard (US-10, Tabou / Gaastra) wins the single elimination after a long day of competition. The U.S. has again demonstrated his great form by winning the single elimination of the 2005 PWA Estoril Guincho World Cup in the final against Kauli Seadi (BRA-253, Quatro / Naish), Pritchard Brazilian beat, but only just.
The day began finishing the third round in wind and waves loose sideonshore 3 meters. Robby Swift (K-89, JP / Neil Pryde), Alex Mussolini (E-30, JP / Neil Pryde), Matt Pritchard and Scott McKercher (KA-181, Starboard / Severne) is the last four passing the final expense of Diony Guadagnino (V-69, Neil Pryde), Kevin Pritchard (US-3, Starboard / MauiSails), Levi Siver (USA-0, Starboard) and Josh Angulo (US-11). Swift dominated his heat with big backside aerials and awesome pushloops. Guadagnino took a high backloop not land it right and another attempt to goiter, but not enough to defeat the English. Mussolini stood up to Pritchard, long waves and surfing and pushloops backloops soaring, going to the quarterfinals along with Matt Pritchard to forward a stalled altísmo and large backside airs Levi Siver left out. Siver won many points with an impressive "sick backloop" and a tweaked table top, but eventually was Pritchard who spent. The last 3 Round # 3 were Josh Angulo and Scott McKercher. McKercher was sailing strong with good waverides and high jumps, mientars angle seemed to have trouble grab good waves. Despite a very good tweaked table top and a high one-handed backloop without landing, Angle lost to McKercher.
Already in the quarterfinals, Victor Fernandez (E-42, Fanatic) faced Kauli Seadi (BRA-253, Quatro / Naish) and John Skye (K-57, F2) against Julien Taboulet (F-100, JP / Neil Pryde). Victor Fernandez made a perfect table top to a hand, a pushloop, a forward, an attempt to crazy and surfed some good, but Seadi was much higher with long surfs big waves, a high backloop and an attempt that almost lands Chachoo air right. Taboulet Julien is out despite two radical table top forwards.
In the second round of the quarterfinals, is enfretaban Robby Swift (K-89, JP / Neil Pryde) and Alex Mussolini (E-30, JP / Neil Pryde) and Matt Pritchard (US-10, Tabou / Gaastra) against Scott McKercher (KA-181, Starboard / Severne). Mussolini gave a very good impression with big backside airs, forwards and a backloop layer. Swift gave it all with a double forward attempt, a large and a very fluid pushloop sufs in frontside onshore conditions, but it was Mussolini who went to the semifinals. Mientars, Scott McKercher had a feud with Matt Pritchard. Pritchard became one of the highest backloops day and surfed some very long. McKercher did a good waveride, a table top with one hand and a pushloop, but Pritchard took the victory.
The semifinal had to be done with weaker winds at the beginning of the day. Kauli Seadi faced with John Skye and Matt Pritchard against Alex Mussolini. Seadi won again with great backloops, a radical attempt to backloop to a foot and an attempt Chachoo air and an aggressive one flaka waveriding being marked on the face of the wave while surfing. Skye made a most high and two forwards pushloop, but the Brazilian was too strong for Skye. Mussolini had a very radical action with amazing surfs pushloops and very powerful, while Pritchard threw forwards, and pushloops backloops as if it were the day of reckoning. In the end, was the American who spent the final to face Kauli Seadi.
Both Seadi and Pritchard opened the final good surfed good coming to the beach. Pritchard nailed a high backloop, while Seadi was still making good surfs. Then both cojieron a good series and squeezed to the max with Seadi doing a very good aerial and Pritchard a very powerful surf casting a goiter just finishing the heat. Seadi also made a goiter, but being at the tone of purpose not scored. The final was very tight but Pritchard took the victory by 3 to 2 in the voting of the jury.
In the losers final, Alex Mussolini took third place at the expense of John Skye. Both offered a good show with great surfs very fluid and aerials, but Mussolini was the strongest.
