Yin Jian gold in RS: X Olympic Games in Beijing
In a race for medals little wind, Yin Jian (CHN) finished third, enough to get the gold by one point. This is the first medal in windsurfing history for China, Jiang added to the obtained silver in Athens four years ago.
Alessandra Sensini (ITA) won the race knowing that Jian had to beat two places to get the gold. Everything went as planned until the end of slalom just before the finish. Jian became the fifth and finished third after passing Marina Alabau (ESP) and Olga Maslivets (UKR) at the last minute of a tight sleeve.
Thus, Alessandra Senssini navigator becomes the most successful female Olympian of all time with 4 medals: one gold, one silver and two bronzes.
The bronze went to Bryony Shaw (GBR), who pushed hard in the last stretch towards the end of slalom to stay ahead of its nearest rival, Jessica Crisp (AUS) and Marina Alabau (ESP), thus becomes the only Women windsurfing medalist in Britain.
