New records in the channel of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer
Masters of Speed, November 21, 2007
The wind blew stronger early in the afternoon with an average of 35/40 knots and some higher gusts. Patrik Diethelm achieved a new world speed record for series tables, 44.71 knots with his F2 XS Missile and Antoine Albeau of France broke the record with a speed of 46.55 knots.
Unfortunately the wind was quite gusty and too through, between 105 to 110 °, this angle is greater than the apparent wind and is therefore hard to get good marks. Considering the unfavorable conditions, the rates of Antoine and Finian were impressive.
The next day the canal was opened at 8:30 pm but the access road was blocked by the cleanup after the storm with which several competitors could not take advantage of the best wind period of the day. There were some moments of good wind in the morning but the wind died down at noon.
