Waves male:
Yesterday we left the competition in the first round of the men's waves. Today with waves acceptable and exceptional wind, continued the first round. The local Vidar Jensen (N-44, North) and Kristoffer Living got into the next round, with a forward Jensen linving high and going for the Double Forward. In the next round went Klaas Voget (G-4, Fanatic), Diony Guadagnino (V-69, Neil Pryde), Nik Baker (K-66, Mistral / North) and Marcos Perez used his knowledge of the famous canary bay for driving out Douglas Diaz (V-34, Fanatic / North).
They also passed to the next round Orjan Jensen (E-19, North), with a double forward left out Frank Diaz (E-200, Starboard / Severne) and Ricardo Campello, who impressed the judges with some incredible stalled forwards. Kevin Pritchard (US-3, Starboard / MauiSails) had some problems with Sergey Mikheev (RUS-13), it became difficult move to the next round and Cyril Moussilmani (F-71, Fanatic) was out for the magnificent performance Colin Sifferlen (NC-4, Starboard) with a tabletop forward and an attempt to double forwad.
With 4 sleeves pending wave competition was postponed pending the waves, was then the turn of the men's freestyle, which went into the water with the wind Well characteristic.
Freestyle Men: First Round
In the first round there were no major scares, but surprisingly the German master Andre Paskowski freestyle (G-2, F2 / North), did not pass to the next round nor John Skye (K-57, F2) that if passed were Remko de Weerd (H-23, Fanatic / Gaastra), Robby Swift (K-89, JP / Neil Pryde), Thomas Traversa (F-3, Tabou / Gaastra), Taty Frans (NB-9, Starboard / MauiSails) Victor Fernandez (E-42, Fanatic), Colin Sifferlen (NC-4, Starboard), Frank Diaz (E-200, Starboard / Severne), Kauli Seadi (BRA-253, Quatro / Naish), Anthony Ruenes (F-85 , Tabou / Gaastra), Tonky Frans (NB-7, F2), Jose Estredo (V-01, Fanatic / North), Douglas Diaz (V-34, Fanatic / North), Diony Guadagnino (V-69, Neil Pryde) Kevin Mevissen (H-79, JP / Neil Pryde), Antxon Otaegui (E-169, JP / Neil Pryde) and Ricardo Campello (V-111, JP / Neil Pryde).
In the second round Robby Swift left out Remko de Weerd with a flaka and Thomas Traversa shaka while beating to Taty Trans. And with the passing to the next round Colin Sifferlen and Kauli Seadi that excluded Frank Diaz. In the next round Ruenes Anthony spent a shaka and a double flaka were enough to win Taty Frans despite their drumroll, Douglas Diaz earned his training partner Jose Estredo. Kevin Mevissen eliminated to Diony Guadagnino and Ricardo Campello is got from the last 8 at the cost of Antxon Otaegui.
In the quarter Robby Swift and Thomas Traversa offered one of the most evenly matched battles of the day, but Swift took advantage of wind currents better and getting in the semifinal. The other clash of the sleeve between Kauli Seadi and Victor Fernandez ended with the victory of one air landed Seadi Chachoo just honk.
In the other two quarterfinal clashes Anthony Ruenes failed with Douglas Diaz and Ricardo Campello taught Kevin Mevissen how it goes freestyle with a shaka and another air Chachoo.
In the semifinals Robby Swift faced Kauli Seadi and Anthony Ruenes against Ricardo Campello. Swift gave a memorable performance with spocks, a flaka and a perfect switchstance shaka (the trick of the tournament) but was Seadi who got into the final with an air Chachoo a spock, a pushloop and ponch. In the other semi-final clash Ruenes knocked out Ricardo Campello master freestyler with a double and a big shaka flaka right in front of the judges while he took a ponch Campello, an air Chachoo and missed the fall of a high shaka. Seadi and Ruenes got into the final.
The struggle for position between Robby Swift Tecer and Ricardo Campello was another of the great clashes of the day. Campello opened with a ponch followed by a backloop while Swift began with a forward and a spock 540. Campello is marked just after a double forward and enjoyed but was Robby Swift who got the third with a demonstration of a switchstance flaka level, and several ponch (including a one handed when the horn sounded).
In the final Seadi and Ruenes had to draw their smaller sails, the wind had risen more if possible. Both competitors started with a forward and a flaka they did at once as if it were an exhibition. Then it was a great Ruenes shaka while Seadi showed his arsenal of tricks with grubby 540, pushloop, spock and two ponch clewfirst. Ruenes was a joy, a one footed shove it and a double flaka, but this was not enough to stop Kauli Seadi, who managed to win the first round French relegating to second place.
"This was a surprise," said Seadi out of the water, "After finishing second in the last 2 events I have been focusing waves in waves. Well here I have been training in waves, freestyle only did 2 times for 20 minutes at the beginning of the tie had the impression that he was sailing very well, but gradually I've been getting into the competition. In the end I was surfing with 3.6 with no expectations, just having fun, I am very satisfied "
Freestyle Women: Second qualifying
After the first round of men, reached the second heat of the girls after yesterday Daida won the first round. After the first and second round were eliminated Ania Ostrowska (POL-00, Fanatic), Uli Hoelzl (AUT-123, F2 / Neil Pryde), Junko Nagoshi (J-11) and Yolanda Freites of Brend (V-26 , Fanatic / North). Ostrowska Hoelzl remote back to the beach and Nagoshi did the same with Freites of Brend going well into the next round where Iballa Moreno (E-63, Mistral / North) came out victorious in its fight against Silvia Alba Hoelzl and ended with the aspirations of Nagoshi.
In the next round, faced and Iballa Moreno Alba showed the crowd that filled these days Well Bay, a whole repertoire of tricks with forwards, spocks, and incredible aerial backside. Alba did not put it too easy and did an excellent round with a switchstance airjibe, several forwards and spock, but it was Iballa who would face Karin Jaggi (Z-14, F2) in the next round. In this confrontation Iballa missed the fall of a one footed forward and despite a flaka, a tabletop spock and Karin Jaggi could not handle that with a shove it, a forward, a spock and a backloop out victorious duel, thus repeating the same end of yesterday: Karin Jaggi vs Daida Moreno.
In this final repeat of yesterday, Daida wasted no time and opened his set with a forward while Jaggi was marked another forward and a spock, did not perform too well but missed it with a shove in the face Daida, who far from impressed spock marked a 540 and went for the clewfirst spock. Thus winning the second heat of Freestyle.
