World record speed: 49.09 knots Antoine Albeau!
Antoine Albeau (FRA 192) has broken the world record sailing speed to improve the previous record by 0.4 knots to reach a speed of 49.09 knots.
After waiting for months a good time of mistral, the speed channel located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea back to the activity of 45-50 knots with gusts reaching the tour with the perfect orientation. At 12:29 on Wednesday 5 March Antoine caught a strong gust and the score indicated 49 knots, but after that the observer of the World Speed Sailing Record Council thoroughly analyze the video, there was a speed of 49.09 knots 0.4 knots faster than the previous record by Finian Maynard in April 2005.
The material used for table Starboard Antoine was a prototype of 37 cm wide, a racing sail of 4.8 m2 and a custom spoiler Deboichet.
With this world record, Antoine Albeau shows that it is in form after last season reap the titles of World Champion of the PWA Slalom, Formula One World Champion and World Champion speed of the ISA.
