Tom Ashley gold in RS: X Olympic Games in Beijing
In a race for medals shortened by a wind shift of 90 degrees, Tom Ashley won the gold medal after finishing third.
The single-lap sprint was won by King Yin Chan (HKG) with Zubari Shahar (ISR) in second place. This was enough to skip to Nick Dempsey (GBR) and win the bronze medal behind Julien Bontemps just (FRA), who won silver.
While not wanting to pour cold water on what has been a fantastic first Games for the RS: X, where the three winners came virtually to the race for the medals with the same points, there will inevitably be questions about the effectiveness of the concept of thereof.
