Koen B-12 dijo:Something I have been working on last winter and have tested now with great success in competition: the "add on" double chickenstrap.
Problem: when going downwind or even reaching, it is difficult to stay in the outer rear straps when the water is choppy and you are overpowered.
The current chickenstrap position helps to regain control, but since it is too much forward and too much in the middle, you loose a lot of speed.
An optimal strap position for such conditions would be more rear and outwards.
Similar positions are also used on the “high wind” FW boards in the SF-area.
Since FW class rules don’t allow to add strap inserts on a board, I looked for a class legal solution.
The “boosted” chickenstrap is made out of a light and stiff connection piece that allows to mount 2 straps in the optimal position using the 2 finbodl fixations.
The connection piece can be turned for a more rear or forward position. It also has a 2nd slot of holes for more inward position. This allows some additional individual tuning.
