Me he estado fijando que las tablas surftech utilizan este eps especial que no deja espacio entre las bolas y por lo tanto no chupa agua.
EPS WATERPROOF CORE is a fused cell expanded polystyrene (FEPS) core that is virtually waterproof. The new core has been built into all of our boards at Surftech. What this means to the surfer is that you can smash your rail, go surfing and fix your board later!
EPS comes in many different qualities and is used in boards built all over the world. All of those board companies are using inferior EPS bead foam or what you would instantly recognize as beer cooler foam. It is cheap, it sucks water and is the last thing in the world you would want to have in your surfboard.
The foam has unreal memory. That means that when you push on it, it pushes back. Memory translates to improved drive off out of you bottom turn, and increased loading response; when you load up and blast off the lip you get bigger airs. It also means better ding resistance when you choke your landing and try to drive your elbow through the deck of your board.
FEPS foam is also virtually waterproof. That means that when you kook it and dry dock your board on a rock, that hole you just put in your board is not going to ruin your surf trip just because you didnt know that rock was there! Go rip, represent, and fix it later.
WARNING:
EPS cores are popping up all over the place. These cores are NOT FEPS. Only Surftech boards have FEPS. Only Surftech has been researching these core advancements for over a decade. We developed these cores because we know that other methods of manufacturing EPS blow. Everyone else is just jumping on board waving the 'we're modern too' flag. You're smarter than that and we know it. If you see a board with new 'EPS' technology, pull another cold one out of the cooler and let them know, you know, if it's not fused cell EPS, it sucks!
