Ayer fue el primer día de competición, pero no hubo viento para ninguna manga. Parece ser que Gollito desveló una de sus nuevas maniobras:

And, despite the conditions, Gollito took the opportunity to unleash his latest weapon of mass destruction which looked a bit like a back to sail bob variation. This then enthused even more of the sailors to hit the water, including Tonky Frans (F2, Gaastra), and Anthony Ruenes (Tabou, Vandal) who quickly turned their attentions to learning the new move. Needless to say, Gollito was nailing them with his eyes shut whilst the others fell at his feet. It’ll be interesting to see how the judges score the move when the competition gets underway.

The men’s fleet battled their way through to the semi-finals where Canadian Philip Soltysiak (Starboard, Dakine) will meet the boy from Bonaire Kiri Thode (Starboard, Gaastra). And, born and bred styler Tonky Frans (F2, Gaastra) will go head to head with the 2009 World Champion Jose ‘Gollito’ Estredo (Fanatic, North) to decide who heads in to the winner’s, and losers’s finals.

In the women’s fleet, they flipped and spun their way a little bit further with the unstoppable Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard, Vandal) left waiting to take on Yolanda Freites De Brendt (Fanatic, North) in the winner’s final.

Al final ganaron Gollito y Sarah-Quita Offringa ... solo se puedo hacer la eliminatoria simple, no hubo viento para la doble.

After four days of testing conditions in the perfect freestyle playground of Lanzarote, three times world champion Jose ‘Gollito’ Estredo (Fanatic, North) and two times world champion Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard, Vandal) raise the silverware at the first stop of the PWA Canaries tour.
